Reduced to a duo for the Noise Ritual sessions, the infamous Orcae nerds indulged in their usual exercise of free and non-guided improvisation. For once, this performance revolves around the duality between a digital machine, maliciously twisting piano samples until they are no longer recognisable, and the lo-fi analog grit of a guitar, broken down and recomposed through a panoply of DIY effect pedals. The resulting emergent sonic narrative oscillates between evocations to “musique concrète” and distorted walls of noise, completed by the fantastic visual work of Justine Duval and Tmdjn, as well as Benjamin Serventon’s video editing.
